System Composition

 

  1. Pretreatment System
    • Multimedia Filter: Usually filled with quartz sand, anthracite coal, and other materials. It is used to remove larger particles of suspended solids, such as sand, rust, and sediment in the raw water. This helps to protect the subsequent components of the system.
    • Activated Carbon Filter: Utilizes the strong adsorption capacity of activated carbon to remove organic matter, residual chlorine, and odors in the water. Residual chlorine can damage the reverse osmosis membrane, so its removal is crucial.
    • Softener or Anti-Scale Device: Softeners use ion exchange resins to replace calcium and magnesium ions in the water with sodium ions, reducing water hardness. Anti-scale devices can also be used to prevent the formation of scale on the reverse osmosis membrane surface.
    • Precision Filter: Generally with a filter element of 5 microns or less, it further removes fine particles and suspended matter in the water to ensure that the water entering the reverse osmosis system meets the requirements.
  2. Ultrafiltration (UF) System
    • Ultrafiltration membranes with a filtration accuracy in the range of 0.01 – 0.1 microns are used. They can remove macromolecular substances, colloids, bacteria, and some viruses from the water. The ultrafiltration system can effectively reduce the turbidity of the water and further purify the water before it enters the reverse osmosis system.
  3. Reverse Osmosis (RO) System
    • High-Pressure Pumps: Provide the necessary pressure to drive the water through the reverse osmosis membranes. For a 15-ton system, multiple high-pressure pumps may be used in parallel to ensure sufficient water flow and pressure.
    • Reverse Osmosis Membranes: These are the core components of the system. They have extremely small pores that can effectively remove dissolved salts, heavy metals, most organic matter, and other impurities from the water, achieving a high degree of water purification.
    • Control Valves and Instrumentation: Including pressure gauges, flow meters, conductivity meters, etc., which are used to monitor and control the operation of the system. Control valves are used to adjust the water flow, pressure, and backwashing operations.
  4. Automatic Control System
    • The system is equipped with a programmable logic controller (PLC) or a similar control device. It can automatically control the start and stop of each component, as well as the backwashing and chemical cleaning processes of the filters and membranes. This ensures the stable and efficient operation of the system and reduces the need for manual intervention.
